First Snow / First Load

A heavy frost early Monday morning eventually turned into our first snowfall of the season. It was light but lasted the whole day, racking up what looks from here to be about 5cm. Though I'm no fan of snow it was still welcome as the overcast meant an end to a rather chilly week.
This morning the snow started to melt, aided by a warm fog and a bit of drizzle. The forecast shows rain and temperatures in the high single digits for the rest of the week, so I expect the snow will be gone by Thursday.
When we got our little Danby clothes washer a few months back, the paramour was so pleased with it that zie actually looked forward to doing laundry, an attitude which I heartily encouraged. Thanks to this serendipity I'd never used the washer myself until yesterday. Oh how I had forgotten the sheer joy of being able to quickly do load of laundry at one's own convenience rather than bundling it all into the truck and rushing to the laundromat only to find that they'd closed an hour early for the inter-provincial chainsaw carving championship.
We don't have an electric dryer so I was obliged to hang the clothes on a rack which the paramour had kindly set up for me in the bathroom. It only took about 12 hours for everything dry, thanks in no small part to the wood fire which the paramour had kept going through most of the night.
I now have clean underwear again and it feels like I barely needed to lift a finger to get it.
